Sea Pines Resort

SEA PINES RESORT. Home to the famous red and white candy striped lighthouse, Sea Pines is considered one of the top resorts in the country according to Travel and Leisure magazine.

Surrounded by the Atlantic Ocean and Calibogue Sound, Sea Pines occupies more than 5,000 acres of Hilton Head Island, with sweeping vistas of sea marshes, five miles of beach and maritime forests with palmettos, pines and live oak trees. It is home to 30 species of mammals, 133 types of birds, 11 fish, 37 reptiles, 20 amphibians and various other creatures.

Sea Pines Resort plays host the PGA's Heritage Classic golf tournament at the Harbour Town Golf links and is considered by many as one of the finest golf resorts on the East coast with its three courses within the plantation.

GOLF
The Harbour Town Golf Links is repeatedly selected by the PGA Tour professionals as one of their favorite courses and is consistently ranked as one of the top 100 golf courses in the world. Called "nothing short of a work of art" by Sports Illustrated, Pete Dye in consultation with Jack Nicklaus created a modern masterpiece that places a premium on finesse, imagination and shot-making skills rather than strength alone. The course plays through a maritime forest of black water lagoons and majestic Live Oaks draped in Spanish moss with towering Loblolly and Slash pines all overhanging and defending the fairways. Considerable forethought must be given on placing your shots in order to attack the greens. The set of par threes at Harbour Town are ranked among the finest in the world. Its famous finishing holes, 17th and the 18th, are constantly buffeted by winds, leaving players with a difficult club selection. Everything about this golf course is tough and breathtaking in beauty.

Heron Point is the newest addition to the resort. Golfers today are looking for a new challenge. To that end, Pete Dye was given a multi-million dollar budget and a green light to do almost anything he pleased in transforming the old Sea Marsh golf course into a new work of art with teeth.Fairways have been restructured to feature dramatic angles and shifting elevations, while surfaces feature a mix of sand, mulch, limestone and various grasses to present a diverse and stunning landscape. Pete Dye is famous for offering risk and reward shots and you're sure to find plenty of opportunities on this remarkable course.

The Ocean Course was built in 1960 and was the first golf course on Hilton Head Island to be designed by George Cobb who also renovated the legendary Augusta National. It was restructured in 1995 by touring pro Mark McCumber who brought more water hazards and bunkers into play. The course represents a true classic resort golf experience and has been awarded "Beginner Friendly Course Certification" from the National Golf Course Owners Association. Its signature hole is the par-3, 15th where the elevated tee offers a sweeping view of the Atlantic Ocean.

BEACH CLUBS
The Sea Pines Beach Club is for both property owners and resort guests. Here you will find a gathering place for sand and water activities.

In season, have lunch at the snack bar or stay for a casual dinner at the Surf Side Grill, the only outdoor oceanfront restaurant on the Hilton Head Island. Kick back at the best beach bar on the Island and sip on your favorite cold beverage as pelicans glide overhead during the day, or come back at night and enjoy live entertainment as the moon rises over the ocean. At the Sea Pines Beach Club you'll find a beach shop for forgotten necessities, restrooms and changing facilities.

If you're looking to enhance your beach activities, talk with the lifeguards at Shore Beach Service, Inc. to rent umbrellas and chairs, body boards, aqua cycles, fun cycles, banana peels, paddle skis and sailboats! They are on site and open 7 days a week from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, late March to mid October. Call 843-785-3494.

Biking
There are 17 miles of bike trails winding throughout our beautiful community and connecting every major activity area within the Sea Pines resort. These paths will lead you to such sites such as the Forest Preserve, Lawton Stables, Harbour Town, Sea Pines Center, Sea Pines Beach Club, Sea Pines Plantation Club, Stoney-Baynard Ruins and South Beach Marina Village.

Shopping, Dining, and Nightlife
Harbour Town Marina is a great place to shop, dine, and enjoy the wonderful views of the water. A short stroll or bike ride takes you to the heart of Sea Pines where there is something to do for every one of all ages. From the playground for kids to Jet Ski rentals, you can spend countless hours in the shadow of the lighthouse. Its village style layout makes it a perfect way to spend the evening and catch one of the best sunsets in the world.

South Beach Marina is reminiscent of an old Cape Cod village and is a great way to relax and get the true feeling of Lowcountry living. Live music, outdoor dining, and plenty of shopping will make for a memorable vacation.

Horseback Riding and Petting Zoo
Lawton Stables offers enjoyable guided trail rides for children and adults starting at eight years of age. The riding runs through the Sea Pines Forest Preserve, a 600 acre preserve where many plants and animals can be observed. Also available are pony rides for kids under seven, hayrides (also through the Forest Preserve) and professional training and riding lessons Sea Pines 843-671-2586. On site is a petting zoo, where the kids can get up close and personal with some of the friendliest animals on the island.
