Since 1996 the Native Island Business and Community Affairs Association (NIBCAA) has hosted the annual Hilton Head Island Gullah Celebration during the month of February. The month-long cultural event showcases the rich heritage of the West-African Gullah people and their history with Hilton Head Island, including their arrival in bondage at South Carolina and Georgia.
